The Best Ever One Indgredient Birthday Treat For Your Dog (1282 Views)

At our house, we love celebrating our dogs’ birthdays. Depending on the year, we invite friends (and their canine companions) or sometimes it’s just our family. But it’s always the perfect time to spoil our pup! Over the years I’ve heard of so many fun ideas to celebrate from pool parties (in kiddie pools or even a dog swim if your house has a pool) to filling a room with hundreds of balls for your pup to jump in or even full-out catered soirees. This year, we ended up doing two of our dog’s most favorite things: going on a long walk and then having a dance party.

Regardless how you celebrate, the best part of any birthday party is ALWAYS the dessert. Of course, Paw Party offers a dog-tested, dog-approved cake, and what better time to try it than a birthday?

But our dog, Cash, loves bananas, so it’s become a tradition for his party to also serve banana ice cream. Turns out, everyone loves it and it’s super easy to whip up. For humans, add a peanut butter or chocolate sauce and sprinkles. For your canine kid, just serve straight up banana ice cream with the birthday cake.

One-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream Recipe

Makes 2 servings.

1 large ripe banana

1. Start with a ripe banana.

2. Peel the banana and cut into 3-4 pieces.

3. Put banana in an airtight container: a freezer-safe bowl or freezer bag will work.

4. Freeze the banana until hard, usually 4-5 hours.

5. Blend the frozen banana pieces in a food processor. It will look crumbly, but keep blending until completely smooth (which is why a food processor is needed).

6. When it’s finally to a creamy, soft-serve ice cream texture, it is ready to serve or transfer it back to an airtight container and freeze again until solid.

For a bigger batch, just add more bananas!

How do you celebrate your pet’s birthday? We’d love to hear!
